Spherical Concrete Speakers
Neaberklok is a design team, based in Groningen, Netherlands. Their latest creation is a pair of spherical concrete speakers! Kyle & Johan seems to have followed three rules:
1. They used concrete as their case material, because "concrete resonates much less and at a higher frequency, outside the critical zones", in comparison to wood..."
2. They built them spherical, because "sound waves move much like water waves..."
3. They used vintage drivers, because "they don’t make them like that anymore..."

8 stunning buildings due for completion in 2012
Since man first learned how to make the natural elements of the Earth work for him, building things has become a product of form and function. From the Lighthouse of Alexandria to the Great Pyramids, the production of inspirational and useful structures has stood as a beacon of human achievement. Here are 8 more awe-inspiring structures that will be completed in 2012.
1) Shard London Bridge – Upon its completion in May of 2012, Shard London Bridge will be the tallest building in the European Union. Located in Southwark, London, the 1017 foot, irregular triangle structure will be entirely encased in glass. The architect for this mega-structure, Renzo Piano, used an advanced form of glazing that gives the building a different appearance in the changing weather and seasons.

Sounds far fetched, but it just might end up saving your ass from a zombie horde one day. Check out an additional image after the break.

Eat Fit
Introducing Dumb-Bell Cutlery, a must for people actively looking to lose weight but not prepared to stop eating. Eat yourself skinny with these 1kg knives and forks and the 2kg dessert spoon (because you only use one hand fatty). This is going to revolutionise the diet industry and that is why they are so damn expensive (and they are hand made).

Victoria Saddle Bag
The Victoria Saddle Bag design for Brooks grew out of playful fashion observations within cycling. By initially observing how women carried their bags while cycling and the problems associated, along with the problems of using existing saddle bags in inner city environments. We started to think about how a bag could be more integrated with the bicycle, make for an easier ride and be easy to add and remove.

Rules of Work Poster Set
Stop us if any of these things haven’t crossed your mind while at the office. “Think before printing… and sleeping with co-workers.” “Nothing good comes from hitting ‘reply all.’” “If it’s really funny it’s probably harassment.” Unfortunately, we don’t all work at Dunder Mifflin or in an Alec Baldwin run office where we can get away with whatever we want. We consume caffeine like our iPhone eats its battery.

Graffiti Masters Turn Side of Building into Awe-Inspiring Masterpiece
Montreal-based graffiti crew A’shop has managed to transform the bland side of a building located at the corner of Madison and Sherbrooke Street West into an amazing piece of art. Graffiti artists Fluke, Guillaume Lapointe, Antonin Lambert, DoDo Ose and Bruno Rathbone spent two weeks researching the project and gathering tools they needed, and then worked 16 days from dawn till dusk in order to complete the incredible five-storey mural. Urban Beehive by Philips
The design of the beehive is unconventional, appealing, and respects the natural behavior of the bees. It consists of two parts: entry passage and flower pot outside, and glass vessel containing an array of honeycomb frames, inside. The glass shell filters light to let through the orange wavelength which bees use for sight. The frames are provided with a honeycomb texture for bees to build their wax cells on. Smoke can be released into the hive to calm the bees before it is opened, in keeping with established practice.

BubbleShield Bag Will Keep Your Phone Dry
You’re the outdoorsy type and tend to get your electronic gear in places it shouldn’t go: you could just toss it in a Ziplock bag. Or you could get a fancier type of plastic bag to put it in. The BubbleShield is just that, a double-zipper bag with a hook. The hook is there for easy transport, while the pattern at the back is interrupted in the general vicinity of the iPhone’s camera, allowing you to still take shots with it. And while it’s clearly aimed at iPhone owners, this would work with any phone, really.
